Murder mystery

A location – based game in which the players act as private investigators, trying to solve a murder case. The participants are split into teams. After a short introduction into the riddle’s setting they recieve a list of suspects along with their files and the investigation begins.

Every character the players encounter has a clue about the killer. It can either be physical evidence or testimonies and gossip. During the interviews the suspects present various challenges to the players – overcoming them is awarded with points. These challenges are physical or intellectual, though sometimes they appeal to sheer creativity. For example the investigators may be asked to solve a logic puzzle, to discretely secure a piece of evidence possessed by a dishonest suspect or to take part in an impromptu art performance.

The finale of the game is a classic showdown. All the teams gather and the investigators get a chance to analyze all the clues they collected, take one last look at the suspects, and name the killer. Once everybody is done the villain is revealed, his motives explained and the winning team declared. The points scored for additional challenges serve as a tiebreaker in case of multiple teams solving the case correctly.

Details of the case, the plot, as well as the number and identity of the suspects are customizable and depend entirely on our clients’ wishes and preferences. For example for children groups the case doesn’t need to involve murder, as equally engaging narrative can be build around a theft of a famous art piece or ancient treasure. Our sample scenario titled “Clean Job” tells a story of a cleaning supplies enterpreneur’s death. The players get a chance to interrogate five suspects who were close to the victim, for example his widow, estranged son, business partner or bitter rival.

We recommend one of two areas for the game: Kraków’s Old City or Kazimierz district. The rich atmosphere of these places make the event more immersive and the exploration necessary during the search for the suspects lets the players stray off the beaten path and explore Kraków as never seen before. That being said it is perfectly possible to arrange a scenario in a different part of town or even outside Kraków (see: hotel based game).
