A location-based game that takes places at sunset and continues into the night. The players try to explain weird pfenomena and ubsettling events that reportedly take place in a nearby park. They begin their journey at dusk and make their way through the falling darkness to try and find the answers among back alleys and deserted areas of the district.
Along the way the investigators meet a number of characters who give them directions, advice and information about the supernatural events they have witnessed. These tales gradually reveal the nature of the problem and the existance of a person able to solve it. At the turning point of the game the teams meet the Apprentice Sorcerer. He explains that the recent phenomena are caused by a curse placed upon the area by Master Twardowski (a famous character from polish folk tales) a few centuries ago. He reveals a way to lift the curse – the players need to gather magical talismans possessed by the accursed souls haunting the neighbourhood.
After listening to the mage’s instructions the teams bactrack to the starting point. Along the way they meet all the people that helped them, but this time they are transformed by the curse. Gaining the talisman from a character requires beating him or her in a challange or fulfilling some other special condition. After overcoming the trials the investigators return to the starting point and lift the curse.
Depending on the number of players the game can be played competitively. In that case the teams act indepenently and whoever gathers the most talismans is the winner.
Night at the Haunted Hill
An extended version of the thriller scenario includes the urban part of the area. The goal of the game remains the same, but there are more locations to visit. For example:
– a theater haunted by a mad ghost
– a stained-glass workshop run by a sorcerer
– a photography center specializing in spiritual photography
