Communism Era city game

A humoristic game recreating a romanicized version of the People’s Republic of Poland. The players are greeted by an cultural-educational instructor (which was a thing) and informed that, due to a clerical error, the game cannot take place as all the funds for it have been allocated elewhere. There is no reason to panic however – the crafty instructor will help the players.

The teams receive addresses where they will be able to more or less legally obtain the required money. All the characters that they will meet and all the challenges they will face directly relate to the most iconic elements of the communist reality of cold war era Poland. For example:

  • A corrupt militia who uses his power to embezzle meat stamps.
  • A waitress from a local bar trying to compete against the nearby Pewex (a shop dealing in luxurious, imported goods)
  • A model builder who attempts to erect a monumental building that will put the western architects and their sky scrapers into shame
  • A poet outraged by the way the censorship treated his latest poem

Every completed task is rewarded financially. Original bills from the period serve as props for this scoring system. At the end of the game the instructor hosts an additional challenge for all the teams – a quirky pop quiz about the communism. The amount of money gathered and the score in the quiz determine the winner.
